So, when you think Middle East, you picture a hot desert, right? Yea, me too! Well, we now know oh to well that it can get very cold in this part of the world. For example, last week it snowed!
Even though this is a fairly common occurance during the winter months, the people are never prepared and don't like it! If you see a snowflake, you can pretty much assume that anything you had planned for that day is canceled. (We've enjoyed a day or two of sleeping in and staying in most of the day.)
Another aspect of these strange Middle Eastern winters is the houses. I'm pretty sure that all the houses were built during the summer by people who had never been here during the winter! They're built for the hot summers, and therefore do not hold in the heat! Housese here are freezing! (You know it's bad when you can see your breath inside!) Thankfully, our house is warmer than many.
Last week when it snowed, we (having lived a good part of our lives in Germany) thought we would go about our day as normal. However, when we showed up at our lanugage tutor's house, she was still in her pjs! Haha! We won't make that mistake again! From now on, if the weather is anywhere close to questionable, we call first.

It's the same way in Alabama. If you so much as mention snow everybody runs out and buys all the bread and milk and if it does snow, even a little, everything shuts down and cars start sliding all over the road.

Yeah, we asked if it would snow here... they laughed at us. We did get a week of rain but from what I hear it is gone till next year. It was really cold for about 2-3 weeks but it was never really bad. Love the pic in the snow!
