Last weekend, we went with another family to a wadi near the Dead Sea. A wadi is a narrow valley that is a river during the rainy season. The weather was beautiful! Once we got there, we had a wonderful, relaxing day. There was a small river running through the wadi, and once we got to our "spot" there was a small cave with a waterfall that comes up from a hot spring. It was fairly secluded so I even got to wear shorts and short sleeves! We enjoyed relaxing and getting some much needed sun on our blindingly white selves.
However, the trip to the wadi, was quite the adventure. The entire trail was very rocky. We were, least to say, unprepared for the walk. We wore flip flops and I wore a big skirt over my shorts. Well, I broke a flip flop about 5 minutes into the 25 minutes walk, and John's kept coming apart. Oh yeah, John and another guy were carrying a cooler the whole way and I was having a hard time just walking! When we got there, John was able to fix my flip flop. However, on the way back out at the end of the day, my other flip flop broke. John was a hero and gave up one of his for the rest of the hike. :) So, each of us have one very though foot with a few new scrapes and cuts. ;) All in all, the price for a nice day in the wadi was a pair a flip flops, a little pain, and a ripped skirt. Think we should go back next weekend? Haha, needless to say, we'll be a little more prepared next time!
